Playing with RAW vs JPG

So, I am learning to a) use manual mode on my Fuji and b) use Darktable to process the raw images. The first image below of the crocus in Dominique’s garden March 2019 is the lightly edited JPG the camera produced in automatic mode. Focus was good, but I find the color rendition of the green stalks and the purple almost hallucinatory….good for small image/web presentation but when viewed larger, meh…..The second is a processed, compressed JPG (8 bits :-() from one the 25 RAW images I sifted through. I prefer the nuance of the green and the purple, even though it’s a bit dark for screen/web presentation. I would say tell me your thoughts but I haven’t turned comments on ;-) so email me if you want……
