Stuff I see……food obessions….rust / decay / rainbow unicorns…. everything else..
Gold sunset with us
I brought my tripod this year and didn’t get to use it until the end of the trip! I setup hoping to get us with the sunset between us. A bit of post processing to lift our fees but pretty much that is the raw image off the camera.
Gold sunset in Port Blanc
Perfect golden sun rays. Spectacular sunsets in Port Blanc.
2CV
This is a favorite shot, next to the favorite house in Port Blanc of Dominique - right across the street from the house we have rented for four of five years. I was shooting when this 2CV came down the street, and stopped, letting be shoot - I waved him into frame, shooting are fast as I could since I forgot to set multishot mode…..I like the car right in focus with the rest of the beautiful coast and sky.
Purplesky through house
Astonishing purple and blue hour, this is shot from the street (Rue Crech Avel) with Dominique’s favorite house in Port Blanc on the left.
Masts against purple sunset
We had crazy purple sunsets that went for like an hour or more. Most of the purple sky shots in this collection are from a single evening shoot when we had the time and weather to head out with cameras and tripods. This is pretty much untreated as it came off the camera…..obviously compressed in dimensions and light compression for Squarespace…..
Amazing storm clouds
These colors are pretty much untouched as they appeared in August 2020 behind the property on Crech Avel. Dominique photographed the double rainbow that remained for something like 30 plus minutes, moving as the sun and clouds moved in a weird tandem. This formation appeared as the rainbow faded with the setting sun. The sun would be setting over the ocean, which would be to the left and behind me as I photographed, so these clouds are over the interior….
Port Blanc bay at sunset from les rochers des voleurs
Stunning evening shoot, I walked with Dominique around the Roches des Voleurs, shooting back towards the setting sun. Dominique’s mother, Nicole, was instrumental in ensuring this land was not illegally developed. It now provides the recently restored house (directly behind) with multimillion euro views.
Dominique at golden hour
We were walking back from an evening of photoshoot in Port Blanc and people had gathered to watch the sunset. The earlier photos in this collection are from this same beach. Here, I tried to capture Dominique in the golden hour light as she waited for her shot.
The standoff.....
Dominique versus seagull….she wants pixels, he wants food! Along the seawall at Plage Rohanic. The wall has pieces left from the Germans WWII Mur D’Atlantique
Cute boat, cute French girl
Shot straight into the sun, some CaptureOne miracle lifting turned this into a really fun shot, I like my depth of field and the sun flare and that smile…..we are pretty sure this is Dominique and families old boat, as it has repairs to the fiberglass at the prow and is the only one in Port Blanc at the Ecole de Voile with a wooden mast…….
Dominique, posed, in front of Ile aux Femmes
I asked her to pose and I think this is best of the lot. Light that day was not great, so we were just taking pictures. I was shooting with my smallest fixed lens, as it makes the Fuji very transportable, like a point and shoot in fact. She hates the photo of course bu I think it captures my wife’s face if not at the character, since it is posed and she is a lousy poser.
Sailboats on the quai, Ecole de Voile, Port Blanc
I am trying for the repetition and depth of the masts and hulls lined on the quai, waiting for the next days sailing lessons. The color was excellent in the early sunset, close to golden hour.
Green boat at low tide, Port Blanc
I think the depth of field and the angle and color came out nice in this otherwise throw away shot.
View of Treguier from les Halles
Another chance shot that a bit of CaptureOne lifting turned from lost to good. Excellent light and composition, sharp, the light and the mass of the buildings with the spire of the cathedral, I really like this, especially after many years photographing Treguier with poor results.
Pont du Canada, with Treguier Cathedrale spite in between
I did work hard to line this shot up. Not perfectly centered, there was too much traffic. And the distant spire is a bit washed out, not sure I want to spend the time to mask and saturate it…..
Port Blanc navigation tower
This tower provides a visual navigation aid to help sailors line up the entry to Port Blanc.
Fifote boite aux lettres avec cèdres, Rue Crech Avel, Port Blanc
This shot didnt work and I will reattempt another year. The color came out wrong and I tried to restore it, the depth of field is not what I wanted (I wanted to get the tree & the mailbox in focus.
Anneau/ring at the Port de Pecheur, Port Blanc
A tie off embedded in the concrete of the ramp at the fishing pier in Port Blanc.
Chain at low tide, Baie de Pellinec
I shot this same chain last year using an iPhone and the result was so good I vowed to return and capture it with the Fuji. I love the depth of field, the chain blurring into the distance. And the color is pretty good, as it is detail.
Concrete & suspension bolts, detail, Pont du Canada
Not the best shot, I tried to extract an interesting detail of the bolt and concrete suspension.
