Stuff I see……food obessions….rust / decay / rainbow unicorns…. everything else..
Stolen or re-arted?
Some ad for some version of some video game franchise…..its mine now.
Experimental staircase
Experimental as in the photo treatment….
Elizabathe Street Garden
I mostly succeeded in controlling the focus if not the depth of field by getting the focus in the middle figure. Wonderful garden, which we stumbled onto during our November 2018 visit (we were staying in an apartment across the street)…which reminded me of stumbling onto it in the late 90’s or 2000s while traipsing about New York on a business trip….the area is quite posh now.
Future art or abstract art now?
Looking down from a Whitney balcony at pieces of a future installation….they make an appealing abstract in themselves as they lie there.
Dominique in a neon forest
Part of an exhibit at the Whitney, this was a large interactive, trippy set of rooms reconstructing an installation from around 1967…..Dominique’s blog has more info if you want to sift her instagram feed.
If your high, the streets signs all look wonderful
Staircase ascening Whitney reconstructed 1967 installation piece. I guess the illuminated symbols is an abstract of the barrage of street signs rife in most mid-20th century urban street scapes…..Or it’s a recipe.
Jenga building again
Caught it mid cross walk…..it runs real fast….not really.
Voyeur, observer, observed.
Part of that reconstructed 1967 installation.
Descent to....pink.
Headed down a soft tunnel to a pink antechamber….
Just before the sneeze....
She loves texture but the old dried out foam triggered some violent sneezing in the middle to ending section of the Whitney reconstructed installation.
Tribeca fire escapes
Trite and overdone but there is a reason…..
HVAC ductwork
Essex street market waiting for someone to get back from the loo……heavy treatment to make the pipes surface glow….I liked the branching geometry.
Its doesnt get old.....
NYC rooftops. Trite and overdone. For a reason.
View from the Highline
The Highline must have been awesome pre-millionaire status…..a great idea of preserving and moving forward at the same time….until the poseurs and 5,000,000 tourists showed up….
Gorgeous facade
On the Highline, too bad those bugeyed windows are not the FULL HEIGHT of a floor (whats a few more milliion per unit anyways?). Not a renovation, the windows are in a metal frame that screams Art Deco/Nouveau. Now thats a statement of modern intentions without screaming blandness.
My wife's Frieda's
Wandering on a Saturday trying to find somewhere to eat that isn’t mobbed with kids reading from the latest food blog…..This place in the village was cool, of course the bartender was another ex-Masshole but this aperitif is going into my bar collection soon as I make some room.
Because I like it.
Lunch date with the gals at Untitled
Lunch at the Whitney’s Untitled, with Beth and Judy, cousins of my mother’s mother. Beth’s mom was my mother’s Muriel’s mother Grace’s sister….if I got that correct. They came up from NJ to meet us for lunch. Too bad we didn’t sample the art with them after…..
