Brittany! We made it!

Brittany! We made it!

We actually made it to Brittany in August, despite all the issues around COVID travel restrictions. It was iffy until the last minute between cancelled flights, border closures and testing requirements. We made it and it was a beautiful time, as usual, to be in Port Blanc. Logan and Roissy airports were pretty empty, as were the Air France flights. Traversing Paris in 32C (in the early morning no less) via the autoroute de normandie was fast but the air quality was visibly horrid and actually burned your throat and lungs. Brittany, ah, fresh, clean air….and very crowded! Lots of people driving very flashy automobiles (Ferrari, Tesla, AMG Benz, M series BMW) that normally you don’t see in the Tregor.

We of course at well, the market in Penvenan was very well organized and spaced for COVID, I hope they maintain the layout. Treguier market….not well organized and frankly, I am less and less impressed by the quality of the vendors. They seem to cater to tourists who are buying prepared foods rather than people shopping for home cooking. And the organization of the market? Covid, what Covid? We managed to snag some tourteau, some langoustine, and even with the help of a friend, a langouste. We saw some family and some friends but it was much quieter trip than previous years. I have not put those photos (which are on my iphone) up in this collection.

Photo geek stuff: I am getting a little more used to the Fuji X-E3, and I brought my three lenses. A lot of the time I walk around with the smallest, fixed lens (27mm/2.8XF), that is not super fast but is small enough that the Fuji can be carried like a point and shoot. For the sunset shots, those were all down with the larger workhorse XF18-55mm. My favorite shooting lens is still the XF23MM F/2 but it is bulkier than the 27mm. The MeFoto tripod still is finicky but when setup properly, was rock solid.

Photographically, it was not a bad trip but really, concentrated in a few sessions when the skies were spectacular and we had the motivation to get out at cocktail time for a long stroll with cameras and tripod. A few experiments (black and white, details like I like) and even a few portraits of Dominique. There are the golden sunset shots, I really like the one with the sun just behind the last cloud on the horizon:

The purple shots, astounding blue hour colors - I really love the shot through the house.

Then there are some shots of Dominique, I really like this one of her and the boat:
